Time with you
A working session about how the business runs today, where things slip, and what you want it to look like a year from now.
Home / Discovery
Discovery is about two weeks of looking at how your business actually runs. You get a written plan with priced options, and you decide what happens next.
No roadmap works without the "You are here" pin. Discovery is how we find yours.
A working session about how the business runs today, where things slip, and what you want it to look like a year from now.
Conversations with two or three of your people, plus walkthroughs of how the work actually gets done. That's usually where the real problem shows up.
A review of your books, the reports you already have, and the software you use, so the plan fits how money really moves through the business.
No logins needed. I work from the reports and documents you share, and everything stays confidential.
A free 30-minute call. You'll leave knowing where the real problem is and whether Discovery is the right next step.
I quote Discovery on the call, then email the invoice. It's due within two days, and you can pay by card or bank transfer.
Once it's paid, you pick the date for your first session. Over about two weeks, I talk with you and your team and review your books and tools.
What to fix first and what it takes, laid out as priced options. We walk through it together on a call, and the plan is yours to keep.
Discovery starts at $950. The price depends on the size and complexity of your business, and I quote it on our call before you agree to anything.
Hire me within 30 days of getting your plan and the full Discovery fee goes toward the work.
Typically up to two weeks from our first session to your plan. More complex businesses can need more time, and when that's the case, we agree on the timeline together before we start.
Only to Discovery itself. The plan is yours to keep, and you decide whether and how to move forward.
Yes. I'll still start with a Discovery, because I need to understand your books before I can quote them accurately. For bookkeeping on its own, it's usually shorter.
Discovery is non-refundable once paid, since I reserve that time for your business. You can reschedule your first session once with at least 48 hours' notice.
There's no one-size-fits-all package. Your plan is built around your business, and each option in it is priced for that solution, so you know exactly what it costs before you choose.

Discovery includes a working session with the owner, interviews with two to three team members depending on availability, walkthroughs of how work gets done, review of reports the client provides, and a written plan with options and pricing, presented on a call.
Discovery is typically completed within two weeks of the first session. More complex engagements may need more time, and that timeline is agreed with the client before work begins. Timing depends on the client supplying requested information and scheduling interviews promptly. The plan review call is scheduled within two weeks of delivery.
The Discovery fee is quoted on the intro call and invoiced when the client agrees to move forward. The invoice is due within two days, and payment confirms the client's acceptance of these terms. Payment must be received before the first session is scheduled.
The Discovery fee is non-refundable once paid. The client may reschedule the first session once with at least 48 hours' notice, as long as the new date falls within 30 days of the original. If CJ Matthews Consulting must cancel, the client receives a full refund.
If the client signs an engagement with CJ Matthews Consulting within 30 days of receiving the plan, the full Discovery fee is credited toward that engagement.
CJ Matthews Consulting keeps all client information confidential and uses it only to perform the work.
The written plan belongs to the client. CJ Matthews Consulting retains its own methods, tools, and templates.
CJ Matthews Consulting provides operations and bookkeeping services. It does not provide legal, tax, or audit advice.
